After Hurricane Arthur battered its way up the East Coast, Atlanta will have a stretch of sunshine that could be interrupted by a stray thunderstorm on Sunday.
Temperatures will continue to rise and hit near 90 F early next week. The higher temperatures will be accompanied with a humid feel for some days.

Overnight temperatures will follow the same trend and could even reach the low 70s toward the start of next week.
For many other outdoor activities planned this weekend, those spending extended amount of time in the sun should take proper precaution and apply sunscreen frequently. As temperatures rise, it is important to stay hydrated as well.

Fans heading to Turner Field to watch the Braves take on the Arizona Diamondbacks over the weekend, Sunday's game could see an impact from an afternoon thunderstorm. If storms occur, seek shelter inside and listen to any lightning warnings.
The warmer weather should continue into next week as storms may continue to pop up.
