After a springlike start to the week in Pittsburgh, a bit of wintry precipitation comes with a rapid freeze Thursday.
Although the Wednesday storm started bringing rain early, colder air will sweep into the area during afternoon which will change the rain over to snow by the evening commute.
A dangerous plunge to subfreezing air will quickly freeze up any wet or slushy roadways and sidewalks Wednesday evening which can cause treacherous travel.
"Car doors and locks may freeze up as the frigid weather moves in," said Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek.

The steadiest snow will taper off in the evening but some snow showers will linger Wednesday night.
AccuWeather RealFeel® temperatures around daybreak Thursday will be dangerously cold with readings near 20 below zero F.
"The next few days will be like a winter sandwich," said AccuWeather.com Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams.
A frigid Thursday will be saddled between some springlike weather. Highs will be back to the lower 50s by Friday.
