New York City will experience a taste of spring before winter makes a comeback at midweek.
Despite a cooler end to the weekend, a surge of milder air is still on tap for Monday and Tuesday.
The passage of a stray rain or snow shower Monday morning will be followed by an afternoon high in the lower 50s.
Tuesday is then shaping up to be the warmest day of the week with temperatures approaching the 60-degree mark. The number of people spending some time outdoors is sure to increase.
Those same people should not get used to this taste of spring with winter set to make a comeback.

Temperatures will take a tumble at midweek as winter storm takes shape across the Ohio Valley Tuesday night, then impacts the Northeast Wednesday through Thursday morning.
The storm will initially spread rain across the New York City area on Wednesday, leading to possible flight delays and a slow commute for motorists.

The city will escape the storm's most substantial snow. However, the rain may mix with or end as a period of snow Wednesday night through Thursday morning as colder air surges in on the backside of the storm.
There is also concern for any wet spots on untreated roads and sidewalks to turn icy as temperatures fall. Bridges and overpasses would be the first to become slick.

A frigid Thursday will follow the winter storm with temperatures struggling to reach the freezing mark and blustery winds creating even colder AccuWeather.com RealFeel® temperatures.
