A storm that will bring major disruptions of travel and daily activities to much of the nation will hit Harrisburg, Pa., with substantial snow late Sunday through Monday.
Sleet will initially mix with the snow, but the majority of the event will be snow that will accumulate around 6 inches. There is the potential for up to a foot of snow near the Maryland border.
The snow and sleet will start Sunday afternoon.
Lengthy flight delays and many cancellations are expected well ahead of and during the storm, since it will move from west to east across the nation this weekend and impact major hubs.

The main storm is forecast to bring very heavy precipitation rates Sunday night and Monday.
Snowfall rates can reach or surpass 2 inches per hour in some locations. That is especially true south of Harrisburg. Such intense snowfall can overwhelm shoveling and plowing operations, as well as strand motorists.
