Tropical Cyclone Vardah is pushing ashore in India where it will bring heavy rain and potentially damaging winds.

Forecast: Moving Inland in India
Vardah was the equivalent of a Category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale, as of late Sunday evening EST, according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC).Vardah is pushing ashore near Chennai on Monday (local time). Weakening is expected as it moves inland, due to interaction with land.
Projected Path and Intensity
Strong, gusty winds could cause wind damage near where the center of Vardah moves inland. Heavy rain will also accompany Vardah, which may cause flash flooding. Some locations could pick up five inches or more of total rainfall.
