A pair of storms passing to the north of Germany will bring periods of rain and gusty winds to parts of Germany during the holiday weekend.
While flooding rain and damaging winds are expected to bypass Germany to the north, travel disruptions will still be possible, especially in northern areas.
The most widespread problems are expected from Hamburg to Kiel and Rostock where several rounds of showers and gusty winds are expected on Saturday and Sunday.
Flooding is not expected as rainfall will generally be less than 12 mm (0.50 of an inch) through the weekend. The rainfall may cause slower travel and slick roadways especially in areas that receive a brief downpour.
Winds will gust over 50 km/h (31 mph) both days across northern Germany with occasional gusts reaching 65 km/h (40 mph). Southern Germany will get occasional gusts to 30 km/h (19 mph).
Mild air arriving with each of the storms will prevent any accumulating snowfall outside of the highest elevations.
Locations from Frankfurt to Stuttgart, Nuremberg and Munich will endure the least impacts with just a brief shower or two and an occasional gusty breeze.

Temperatures will be well above normal across all of Germany. Highs will range from 6-8 C (42-48 F) across the country on Saturday before turning even milder on Christmas Day. In some locations from Frankfurt to Hamburg and Berlin, temperatures will reach 10 C (50 F) or higher.
A period of tranquil weather is expected on Friday allowing some travelers to reach their destinations before the adverse weather arrives.
Colder weather is expected to return next week along with the threat for additional strong winds.
