After a rest day on Monday, cyclists began racing across the rugged terrain southern France on Tuesday and will remain over the region through Thursday.
Thursday will feature the third straight day of big climbs for the cyclists as they continue battle the terrain and unseasonable warmth.
While sunshine will prevail throughout the entire stage on Thursday, temperatures will vary depending on elevation. Temperatures will rise to around 30 C (86 F) in the lower elevations; meanwhile, the temperature will be closer to 21 C (73 F) as the cyclists reach the top of Col de la Core and Port de Lers at 1,400-1,500 meters (4,600-4,920 feet).

Unseasonable heat will continue across southern France Friday for Stage 13. This stage will be limited to generally lower terrain forcing the riders to deal with the heat throughout the entire stage.
A storm system will bring the threat for showers and thunderstorms to the weekend stages that will take place in southeast France.
