Following the hottest days of the summer, the weather around New York City will not be in a hurry to cool down.
On Tuesday, Central Park reached 95 F, which was the hottest day of the year so far.

Thunderstorms are forecast in the area Thursday afternoon and evening, which will begin the downward trend in humidity.
However, high temperatures will still flirt with the 90-degree mark through the middle of next week.
MLB fans heading to Citi Field for the series between the Mets and Nationals should not have to worry about rain this weekend. Likewise for people heading to the Summer Seaport Festival on Water Street in Manhattan.
Should the temperature hit 90 each day into next week, this may be the longest heat wave of the summer.
Three days in a row with temperatures reaching 90 F or higher define an official heat wave.
Many locations around New York City experienced the first official heat wave of the summer during the middle of July. Central Park fell just short, while LaGuardia and Newark airports hit 90 F for three days in a row spanning July 19-21.
