Cyclists heading out for the next stage of the Tour de France on Friday will face both heat and thunderstorms on their way to the finish line.
In wake of the third straight day of big climbs for the cyclists, Friday's course will feature hills, but the climbs will not be as harsh. However, the weather will bring additional challenges.
Highs will hit the lower 90s across much of the course on Friday. The heat will force the competitors to work extra hard to stay hydrated. The spectators should seek shade when possible and stay hydrated as well.
The building heat will help fuel afternoon thunderstorms and some will be strong enough to bring hail.

The heat will gradually wane this weekend, but it will remain quite warm. Additional thunderstorms will threaten the race as well.
