Typical hot and humid weather, known as the dog days of summer, will continue this week in the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore areas.
The region has experienced multiple heat waves thus far. Three days in a row with temperatures reaching 90 F or higher define an official heat wave.

Actual temperatures can get as high as the middle 90s F on Wednesday and Thursday with AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures climbing well above 100 F.
Temperatures in some urban areas may struggle to dip below 80 F during the overnight hours.
The vast majority of the time through Sunday will be free of rain.
Beyond Monday's slow-moving and very drenching storms, the next chance of rain will be on Thursday afternoon and evening. Orioles fans heading to Camden Yards should be on the lookout for a sudden downpour.
Less humid air will settle in on Friday, with slight nighttime cooling arriving in time for the weekend. The days will still be hot and fitting for early August.
Temperatures have averaged above normal during June and July. Rainfall has been near average for July, but two to three times that of average during June.
Temperatures typically range from a morning low near 70 F to a high in the upper 80s F during the end of July and at the start of August in the cities.
