Weather Underground Forecast for Monday,April 6,2015

A Pacific system will affect the West Coast on Monday, while a separate system will emerge over the central Plains.

A Pacific low pressure system will skim across the West Coast. This system will bring a blast of cold air to the Northwest and northern California. This cold air, combined with an onshore flow from the Pacific, will produce moderate to heavy rain across Oregon, Washington and California. The heaviest rain is forecast to develop over southwest Oregon and northwest California. In addition, snow levels are expected to drop to roughly 4,500 feet across the Cascades, the northern Sierra Nevada, the northern Wasatch and the northern Rockies. Winter weather advisories are in place for northern California, central Oregon, northeast Washington, northern Idaho and Montana. The Southwest will stay mostly clear of precipitation on Monday.

Meanwhile, an area of low pressure will shift across the central Rockies and the central Plains. This system will draw warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico, fueling rain and thunderstorms across portions of the central Plains, the middle and lower Mississippi Valley, the Ohio Valley, the Tennessee Valley, the Deep South and the Southeast. Westerly winds and cold air will bring chances of freezing rain, sleet and snow to the northern Plains, the upper Midwest and the Northeast.
