Rounds of Rain to Cause Flooding in Ohio Valley

A continual pattern of unsettled weather will raise the threat of flooding across the Ohio River Valley through the rest of the week.
Several disturbances will ride along a boundary separating colder air over Canada and warmer air over the Deep South with that boundary setting up right over the Ohio Valley.
This will cause rounds of rain and thunderstorms to track across the region through the rest of the week, bringing the risk of flooding and travel delays.
Raincoats and umbrellas will be put to use on a daily basis from Philadelphia to Chicago as the rain moves through before dry conditions return just in time for the weekend.

The southern extent of the aforementioned boundary is expected to push southward along the coast of the Northeast through Wednesday, ushering cooler air across the region after a mild start to the week.
"This will create a dull and dreary, damp and chilly regime that will last at least two to three days," said AccuWeather.com Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams.
"Many areas will have periods of rain and drizzle, though some snow and ice cannot be ruled out the in the area from around Interstate 90 in New York and Massachusetts on northward," continued Abrams.
Meanwhile, areas west of the Appalachian Mountains, while remaining wet and unsettled, will continue to experience mild conditions through much of the balance of the week.

While no individual day is expected to bring a particularly high risk of flooding, several consecutive days of rain can cause rivers to slowly swell late in the week and early in the weekend.
Many locations across the Ohio River Valley are expected to pick up several inches of rain before the end of the week. This includes cities such as Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Indianapolis.
The Ohio River Valley and its tributaries are at most risk of flooding following the flooding issues during the month of March.
People living near these rivers should keep an eye on the river levels in case river flooding does occur.

The final push of rain and thunderstorms is expected to move through on Friday as a cold front swings through the region.
While this front will mark the end of the wet pattern, it could also bring some gusty thunderstorms to the region.
