PHOTOS: Tornadoes Ransack Communities in Central US Amid Severe Storm Outbreak

A widespread severe outbreak spanning multiple days has battered communities across the Central U.S. with tornadoes, hail and deadly flooding.
Wednesday, April 8
As severe storms marched across the Central U.S. on Wednesday, eight reported tornadoes touched down on Wednesday evening in Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma.
Spotters across the Plains observed hail up to 4 inches in diameter as strong downpours blasted communities from Oklahoma to Iowa.

Flooding claimed the life of a woman in Hendricks County, Indiana, as heavy rain fell across the area for a second day in a row. While attempting to clear debris from Tuesday's storm, she was swept into an overflowing stream, WTHR reports.
In Villa Ridge, Missouri, a mobile home park was flooded the second straight day after heavy rain inundated the community Tuesday and Wednesday. Water was reported up to 2 feet high, and local officials were called in to assist residents.
Thursday, April 9
Devastating tornadoes ripped through Illinois on Thursday as storms churned across the Central U.S. Additional tornadoes touched down in Iowa and Missouri.
A 67-year-old woman died and seven others were injured after the tornado in Fairdale, Illinois, DeKalb County and Rockford officials said at Friday morning news conference.
With a population of 150, the local fire department reported that every structure throughout the town endured some type of damage.
"Some houses were basically pushed into a pile," the Rescue Branch commander for the incident, said.
Just over 20 miles east in Rochelle, Illinois, a violent tornado tore through the town, injuring dozens. No fatalities were occurred, Ogle County Sheriff Brian VanVickle said in a press conference on Friday morning.
"It's pretty much just devastation to where the tornado went through," VanVickle said, noting that affected homes, including his own, are likely completely destroyed and uninhabitable.
A Crest Foods warehouse in Ashton, Illinois, was severely damaged by a tornado. The structure, which used to stand 40 feet tall and the length of nearly three football fields, was left in a heap of twisted metal, WIFR news reported. No major injuries were reported.
