Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday,August 28,2014
A low pressure system will move across the central Plains on Thursday, while a cold front will extend from the middle Mississippi Valley to the Mid-Atlantic.
A strong low pressure system will continue to move east northeastward over the central Plains on Thursday. This system will interact with a warm, muggy air mass to initiate strong thunderstorms across the nation\'s midsection. Heavy rain associated with these thunderstorms will bring a chance of flash flooding to Iowa, southeast Minnesota, northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will trail this system and linger over the Intermountain West and the Four Corners. Conditions will stay mostly clear across the West Coast due to high pressure over the Great Basin. The exception to this will be over the Northwest, where an onshore flow will usher showers across northwest Washington.
Meanwhile, an area of low pressure will drift northeastward over southeast Canada. This system will bring rainy weather to northern New England on Thursday. A cold front associated with this system will extend southwestward over the Mid-Atlantic, the Tennessee Valley and the middle Mississippi Valley. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible along this frontal boundary. Additionally, a tropical disturbance over the northwestern corner of the Gulf of Mexico will bring rain and thunderstorms to coastal Texas and parts of Louisiana. Sea breeze induced thunderstorms will also pop up over Florida on Thursday.
