Minneapolis is on the front line of a severe weather outbreak this Labor Day weekend.
The Plains outbreak could rival a June 16 outbreak in the Plains, AccuWeather meteorologists said.
"Increasing instability will combine with an energetic mid-level wave approaching from the Northern Rockies to promote a threat for dangerous severe storms in Minneapolis, especially from late Sunday afternoon through the evening," AccuWeather Enterprise Solutions Meteorologist Andrew Crouch said.
The most common threats will be damaging straight-line winds to 70 mph and very large hail, but a few isolated tornadoes may be expected as well, Crouch said.
Anyone with outdoor plans on Sunday need to be aware of their weather surroundings and take necessary precautions. Take cover if threatening weather quickly develops.

Once the storm system moves through on Sunday, more tranquil weather will settle across the Twin Cities area for the first part of the week.
It will be partly sunny and less humid with daytime highs in the upper 70s to low 80s on Monday through Wednesday.
A chance of thunderstorms returns to the area on Thursday.
