Tokyo to Host 2020 Summer Olympics

And the winner is...Tokyo.
After the uncertainty created by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan, Tokyo bested Istanbul and Madrid for the right to host the 2020 Summer Olympics.
The vote came Saturday during the International Olympic Committee's 125th Session in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Madrid was eliminated in the first round of voting by the IOC delegates.

Tokyo's bid was to hold the Games of the XXXVI Olympiad from July 25 to Aug. 9, 2020.
The average high in Tokyo for those dates is about 85 degrees F (29 C) with quite warm night time average lows of 74 F (23 C). It is also a rainy time for Tokyo with an average rainfall of 3.01 inches (76 mm).
"There is also a threat of tropical systems coming off the western Pacific," AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist Alan Reppert said. "It is an active area for earthquakes."
Tokyo last hosted the Olympics during the 1964 Summer Olympics.
