The Great Basin and parts of the western Plains experienced showers and
thunderstorms earlier Wednesday, while severe thunderstorm watches were
issued in the Northeast. Parts of the West Coast felt slightly cooler
temperatures today, while the majority of the Southeast remained warm
and clear.
A low pressure system continued to develop along the U.S. and Canadian
border this morning, triggering wet weather and strong winds. Severe
thunderstorms began to develop along parts of the Northeast this
afternoon, creating hazardous conditions in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New
York, and even in parts of New England. Hail, along with strong rain and
winds picked up throughout the region during the late morning and early
afternoon. The central Midwest also experienced scattered showers and
thunderstorm earlier Wednesday.
Flood warnings were issued throughout the Great Basin on Wednesday as
showers and thunderstorms continued to dampen the region. Mountains and
adjacent canyons were the most susceptible to flooding. Temperatures
continued to stay well above 90 degrees for the majority of the Great
Basin and Southwest, while a low pressure system brought slightly cooler
temperatures to the northern California and southern Oregon coast.
Temperatures ranged from the high 60s to the low 70s up the coast and
into the Pacific Northwest.
