The National Weather Service says temperatures Tuesday will climb into the mid to upper 90s across wide swaths of the state. And the heat index could make it feel even hotter. There's also an increased risk of grass fires.
Some schools are also closing early.

That comes a day after more than a dozen Springfield Catholic school students had to be taken to hospitals after being overcome by heat while attending an outdoor Mass to mark the start of the school year. Temperatures at the time were near 90 degrees.
Forecasters say relief is in sight.
Cooler weather is expected later this week.
