A push of cooler, less humid air is heading for the Washington, D.C. area and the mid-Atlantic in general beginning Tuesday evening.
Several days of bright sunshine are in store.
The push of Canadian air will end the daily risk of showers and thunderstorms experienced during the holiday weekend.
Many people will be able to turn off the fans and air conditioners with temperatures dropping well down into the 60s at night.

Many suburbs will have nighttime temperatures dipping into the 50s.
Each day Wednesday through Friday will bring bright sunshine and a cool breeze with highs generally in the low- to middle-80s.

Prior to the arrival of the cooler and less humid conditions, the atmosphere can squeeze out one more round of showers and thunderstorms during the day Tuesday.

Beyond Tuesday afternoon, the only potential weather related travel problem would be patchy early morning fog for long-distance commuters over the interior river valleys. Some highways that could be impacted include the I-66, I-70 and I-83.
For those hitting the Eastern Shore and the beaches this week, the afternoons will still be warm enough to swim and sun, but bring a sweatshirt or jacket for the evenings and mornings.
