Hot and dry air will continue to hover over Dallas with no relief in sight from the drought.
Following a string of triple-digit heat from Aug. 29-Sept. 1, the high dropped to 90 degrees F on Labor Day. The high of 90 fell 3 degrees shy of the normal high for the date, 93 degrees F.
As an area of high pressure anchored itself over the central Plains for much the week, the city experienced dry conditions and mostly clear skies. Highs climbed above normal, reaching to around 100 degrees through much of the week and will throughout the weekend.

Meanwhile, the persistent dry weather is not good news for the severe to extreme drought conditions gripping the area, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. Temperatures will stay in the mid-to upper 90s for the upcoming week.
Humid air from the Gulf of Mexico will trigger showers and thunderstorms along the Texas Gulf Coast and in Hill Country, but none of that beneficial moisture is expected to reach Dallas this weekend. No rain is in the forecast through Thursday.
