Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday,December 4,2016

Heavy rain will batter the southern tier of the country on Sunday, while a series of frontal boundaries shift over the Northwest.

A trough of low pressure will shift east northeastward across northern Mexico and the southern Plains. This system will continue to tap into a moist air mass from the Gulf of Mexico, fueling rain and thunderstorms across the southern Plains, the Deep South, the Southeast and the Mid-Atlantic. Prolonged heavy rain will bring threats of flash flooding to southeast Texas, Louisiana, southern Mississippi, Alabama and northwest Georgia. Cold air along the northern periphery of the system will support the development of rain and snow in the Midwest and the interior portion of the northern Mid-Atlantic.

Meanwhile, a low pressure system will move east southeastward over British Columbia, the interior Pacific Northwest and the upper Intermountain West. This system, combined with a cold frontal boundary, will generate moderate to heavy rain and mountain snow from the Pacific Northwest to the northern high Plains. A separate system will approach the coast of Washington. This system will bring another round of rain and mountain snow to western Washington and northwest Oregon. Temperatures are also expected to drop 10 to 20 degrees below normal over the Northwest. A ridge of high pressure will influence dry weather across the Great Basin and the Southwest on Sunday.
