Weather Underground Forecast for Friday,June 24,2016

A low pressure system will bring active weather to the north central portion of the country on Friday, while a stationary front focuses over the Mid-Atlantic.

An area of low pressure will move eastward across the upper Intermountain West and the northern Plains. This system will generate strong to severe thunderstorms over the northern Plains and the western edge of the Midwest. Severe thunderstorms will be possible in northeast Montana, North Dakota and northwest Minnesota. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. Just to the west, an onshore flow will keep showers in the forecast for the Pacific Northwest and the northern Rockies. The highest elevations of the Cascades and the Rockies will experience mixed precipitation on Friday. Warm and dry weather will prevail across California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah.

Meanwhile, a stationary front will stretch from the Mid-Atlantic to the middle Mississippi Valley. This frontal boundary will be the focal point for rain and thunderstorms, which will affect the central Plains, the middle Mississippi Valley, the Tennessee Valley, the Ohio Valley and the Mid-Atlantic. Severe thunderstorms will be possible in South Carolina and North Carolina. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing isolated tornadoes, powerful straight line winds and large hail. Most of New England will experience dry and pleasant weather on Friday.
