Invasion of cool air across northeastern US to help push Colin out to sea

Cooler air, which is helping to push Colin out to sea, will invade the Northeast for much of the balance of the week.
Bathers and boaters should heed any local warnings until Colin moves well away from the coast at midweek.

The switch to cool weather will mark another big change in the weather pattern for the region, following warmth, high humidity and locally gusty showers and thunderstorms into Tuesday night.
"We are going from a midsummer pattern to turning the calendar back a few months," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek said.

Cities like Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and New York City ended the month of May with a week-long streak of high temperatures at 80 F or above.
By Wednesday, temperatures will return to springlike levels, with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

"This kind of cooldown is not unusual for the beginning of June," Dombek said. "It is still spring, astronomically."
As moisture is pulled eastward by the departing storm, humidity values will come down across the region.
A few isolated showers may still pop up, especially over the higher terrain, but no significant rainfall is expected across the Northeast on Wednesday and Thursday.
Gusty winds will accompany the cooler air rushing in from the northwest. The winds will cause AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures to dip 10-15 degrees lower at times, especially during the evening, morning and nighttime hours.

I guess I will accept this cooler weather (I know, shocking that I would say this), but only because it will not be long-lasting and that it will keep the storm at bay.

Right and we are in meteorological summer (the 3 warmest months statistically) so when it's cold in the north it's....you know....still astronomically spring.

Probably "It is not unusual to have periods of cooler weather during the summer".

My area could struggle to reach 60F tomorrow though, and the only time that has ever happened in July where I am was on July 31st 1992, so any cooldowns that we do get in late June into July may unlikely have temperatures as low as this cooldown. Meanwhile, days that struggle to reach 60F in the first half of June in my area are definitely not uncommon at all.

The 3rd storm of the year but once again, no rotation and no one reporting sustained winds of 39 mph. So in reallity we have yet too have a real tropical storm this year. Oh wait. we had a thunderstorm last night with wind and rain in CT. Why not give that a name. What a joke

I hear ya, but it's not a joke...it's business.
