The first snowfall of the season is sweeping into the Midwest, and it will produce hazardous travel conditions for millions.
"Snow will continue to spread eastward, developing in the Chicago Metro and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, before midnight [CST time]," AccuWeather Meteorologist Dave Samuhel said.
Samuhel added that by Saturday morning, the Chicago area will have several inches of snow on the ground with the highest snow total being just north and west of the city.
The snow will accumulate on roadways, making for dangerous travel. Visibility may be greatly reduced in some of the heaviest pockets of snowfall. Motorists should use caution.
