Guam is escaping the worst but not all of the impacts of powerful Typhoon In-fa as it passes by to the south. An eventual turn away from the Philippines and Japan is expected early next week.
The strength of Typhoon In-fa is currently equivalent to a Category 3 hurricane in the eastern Pacific or Atlantic oceans, but it is passing far enough to the south of Guam for its most destructive winds and flooding rain to remain offshore.

The outer rain bands of In-fa will continue to stream across Guam for the first half of the weekend. Localized flash flooding may occur and winds will gust between 55 and 70 km/h (35 and 45 mph), which may cause minor tree damage and sporadic power outages. Dangerously rough seas will pound the island.

In-fa will continue to track northwest, away from Guam on Sunday and Monday before turning north and eventually northeast next week keeping it away from Japan and over the open Pacific Ocean.
Eventually, In-fa will likely be pulled into another storm system to the east of Japan and have no further impacts on land.
