Coldest Air of the Season Will Sweep Through Central and Southern States

November 20,2015
After mild weather this past week temperatures are starting to fall back to levels more typical of November in parts of the central and eastern United States and some areas will see the coldest temperatures of the season by this weekend or early next week.
The first shot of colder air has spread into the Northeast behind a strong low pressure system in Canada. In most cases, temperatures fell back to near average levels in the Northeast on Friday.

For example, the recent highs in the 50s and low 60s in Chicago were replaced with highs in the 40s Thursday and Friday. Minneapolis stayed in the 30s on Thursday, following their recent run in the 50s and low 60s. On Friday, they did not get out of the upper 20s.
Coming up, another blast of chilly air will sweep eastward through the central and eastern states this weekend behind a low pressure system that is bringing the first accumulating snow of the season to parts of the Midwest, including Chicago.
