Heat to Surge Back to Paris, Berlin, Warsaw Late Week

Intense heat will be making a comeback across northern Europe later this week but only for a brief time.
While falling short of the extreme temperatures that broke records at the start of the month, the heat later this week will still send temperatures back to around or past 32 C (90 F) from France to Poland.

Europe: Hot Weather Continues Across Spain, Portugal

The heat building from southern Europe will return to Paris on Thursday, Berlin and Munich on Friday and Warsaw on Saturday. A high closer to 23 C (74 F) is more common in each of these cities this time of year.
Residents are urged to drink plenty of water and avoid strenuous activities during the hottest time of day (the midday and afternoon hours) to prevent suffering from a heat-related illness.

A building ridge of high pressure is to blame for this most recent surge of heat, according to AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys.
"The ridge has been subdued since early last week but will make a roar back to the north," stated Roys. An active storm track will persist from the British Isles to Scandinavia, preventing the heat from spreading that far north.

As fast as the heat builds in northern Europe, a cold front will drop down and sweep it away in a west-to-east fashion.
Thunderstorms will accompany the front. AccuWeather meteorologists will be monitoring the potential for any of the thunderstorms to produce locally severe weather.
The front, however, does not mean an end to future waves of heat for northern Europe, according to Roys. "I'm worried about another brief hot shot early next week," he said.
