Weather Underground Forecast for Wednesday,July 2,2014

Tropical Storm Arthur will continue to develop along the southeastern corner of the country on Wednesday, while a cold front will extend from the southern Plains to the Northeast.

Tropical Storm Arthur is expected to drift slowly northward on Wednesday as it skims across the southeastern corner of the country. Meanwhile, a cold frontal boundary will extend across the southern Plains, the lower Mississippi Valley, the Ohio Valley and the Northeast. As this frontal boundary pushes across a warm, humid air mass, strong to severe thunderstorms will develop across a handful of states. Severe thunderstorms will be possible over northeast North Carolina, Virginia, eastern West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and much of New England. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will also develop across the Ohio Valley, the lower Mississippi Valley, the southern Plains and the Intermountain West. High pressure will bring cool, dry conditions to the northern Plains and the upper Mississippi Valley.

Out west, a cold front will move eastward over the Pacific Northwest. Showers will be possible over northwest Washington, while the remainder of the West Coast will stay clear of wet weather.
