Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday,July 15,2014

A cold front will extend from the Intermountain West to the eastern Great Lakes on Tuesday, while high pressure will focus over the northern Plains.

A cold front will stretch across the Intermountain West, the southern Plains, the lower Mississippi Valley, the Tennessee Valley and the Ohio Valley on Tuesday. Warm, humid air will interact with the western side of the frontal boundary to initiate strong to severe thunderstorms over the central Plains. Severe thunderstorms will be possible over southeast Wyoming and eastern Colorado. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. In addition, heavy rain associated with these thunderstorms will bring a threat of flash flooding to northeast New Mexico, eastern Colorado and southeast Wyoming. Meanwhile, severe thunderstorms will also develop along the eastern end of the cold front, focusing over northeast South Carolina, eastern North Carolina, eastern Virginia, eastern Maryland and southern New Jersey. These thunderstorms will also be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and tornadoes. Flash flooding will be possible over the northern Mid-Atlantic and southern New England on Tuesday. Disorganized thunderstorms are forecast to develop over the southern Plains, the lower Mississippi Valley, the Gulf Coast and the Southeast as this cold front sinks southeastward. Low pressure over the Great Lakes will also usher showers and thunderstorms across the upper Midwest.

Monsoonal thunderstorms will continue to pop up over the Intermountain West, the Great Basin and the Desert Southwest. Flash flooding may occur along valleys adjacent to sloped terrain. A ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific will keep conditions clear across the West Coast.
