Weather Underground Forecast for Friday,July 11,2014
A cold
frontal boundary will extend from the lower Mississippi Valley to the
Mid-Atlantic on Friday, while a separate cold front will stretch from
the upper Intermountain West to the upper Midwest.
A cold front will extend across the lower Mississippi Valley, the Southeast and the Mid-Atlantic on Friday. As this frontal boundary interacts with warm, humid air from the Gulf of Mexico, showers and thunderstorms will develop over the southern Mid-Atlantic, the Southeast and the Gulf Coast. Thunderstorms will be isolated in nature over the western and central Gulf Coast, while more organized thunderstorms are expected to develop over Florida. High pressure will keep conditions mostly clear across the Ohio Valley, the eastern Great Lakes and the Northeast.
Meanwhile, a separate cold front will extend across the Intermountain West, the northern Plains and the upper Midwest. Thunderstorms will likely develop along the eastern end of the frontal boundary over the northern Plains, the middle Mississippi Valley and the upper Mississippi Valley.
Just to the west, monsoonal moisture will spread across the Intermountain West, the Great Basin and the Desert Southwest, which will bring widespread showers and thunderstorms to the region. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing flash flooding, especially along valleys adjacent to sloped terrain. The strongest thunderstorms will focus over Colorado and Wyoming. The West Coast will stay mostly clear of precipitation due to a ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific.
