A strong south to southwest flow will usher an unseasonably warm air mass over much of the United Kingdom, Ireland and western Europe this week.
A series of fast-moving disturbances will temper the warmth from Ireland into northern Ireland and Scotland while also bringing the threat for showers at times through Thursday.
Temperatures further south will average 4-7 C (7-13 F) above normal. Highs in London will approach 29 C (85 F) from Wednesday through Saturday.

A potent storm system will arrive over the weekend, bringing a threat for widespread rainfall before more seasonable air returns next week.
This storm system will also threaten the Open Championship at Royal Liverpool set to take place from Thursday through Sunday. While Thursday will likely remain free of rain, the threat for delays will increase on Friday and Saturday with a lingering threat for showers on Sunday.

Much of France, including Paris, will also feel the heat this week. The combination of unseasonable warmth and increasing humidity will make it feel as high as 32 degrees (90 F) during the hottest time of the day in the capital city from Thursday through Saturday.
Gusty thunderstorms will be possible on Saturday as cooler air invades from the northwest.
The heat will build in Spain, but the threat for rain and thunderstorms will remain farther north across France and the United Kingdom.
Madrid already experienced its hottest day of the year on Sunday when the temperature peaked at 35 C (95 F). Similar temperatures were felt on Monday with temperatures expected to climb further during the middle of the week. Temperatures could near 38 C (100 F) on Wednesday and Thursday.
