Just when it was starting to feel like the dog days of summer again, Pittsburgh will get another early taste of September Friday.
The warm and steamy air that started the week in southwestern Pennsylvania will be gone following the passage of a cold front.
High temperatures will range from the middle to upper 70s Friday, which is more common in early September than the end of July.
Low humidity will complement the day, creating weather that is perfect for outdoor sports and activities. The lower temperatures will provide another break for those without air conditioning.
Some residents may opt to grab a jacket before outdoors these nights as temperatures dip into the 50s.
After a winter with above-average heating bills from the Midwest to the Northeast, the weather will continue to work toward keeping cooling costs down through the end of July.

A shower or thunderstorm may return to southwestern Pennsylvania late Saturday through Sunday as the humidity builds to end the weekend and a new storm system arrives.
In the wake of that system, even cooler air will sweep in for early next week.
