The most significant rain since June will hit the Seattle area Wednesday, with as much as one inch of rain possible locally.
Drier, warmer weather and sunshine will return to the region by Friday, following a bout of stormy weather midweek.
A chance for rain and thunderstorms will linger in the area throughout the day and into Thursday.
"Some much needed rain will reach central parts of the state to aid firefighters taking on the numerous wildfires in the region, but some of the thunderstorms bringing the rain may turn severe," AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Andy Mussoline said.
Wednesday will be cooler with a highs in the mid-60 with lows sinking into the mid-50s.
"A few showers can linger in Seattle into Thursday," Mussoline said.
On Thursday, a chance for sun will return along with a few showers. Temperatures will climb to the 70 F mark before plummeting into the low 50s overnight.
By Friday, temperatures will climb to the mid-70s with overnight lows in the 50s. Sunshine will return into the weekend, making for a pleasant end to the work week.
Throughout the weekend, the warming trend will continue with highs climbing into the high 70s. A full day of sunshine is in store Sunday for those with outdoor activities scheduled.

"Dry weather will settle back in late this week and weekend as a high pressure system builds into the region," Mussoline said.
By early next week, warmer, drier weather will remain in the region.
