At 4:22 JST, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck off the East Coast of Honshu approximately 94 miles away from Namie, Japan, the U.S. Geological Survey reports.
The depth of the quake is reported to be at 6.2 miles, according to the report. A Tsunami Advisory was issued for Northeastern Japan in the Fukushima-ken Oki region, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. As of 6:15 JST, all Tsunami Advisories and Warnings have been cancelled, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
(Photo/Japan Meteorological Agency)."Get out of the water and leave the coast immediately," the report states. "As the strong current will continue, do not get in the sea or approach coasts until the advisory is cleared."
According to the report, no tsunami damage was expected. Increased sea-levels near a quarter or half foot were reported near Kuji-ko, Kamaishi, Ishinomaki-shi Ayukawa, Iwaki-shi Onahama, and Soma.
The Tsunami Advisory included Iwate Prefecture, Miyagi Prefecture and Fukushima Prefecture.
Tokyo Electric Power Company reports no irregularities at the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant, the plant that was crippled by the 9.0 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami of 2011, according to a report from NHK.
The Japanese government reports no injuries, NHK reported.
