Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday,October 28,2014

A strong Pacific system will impact the Northwest on Tuesday, while a separate system will shift across the Great Lakes.

A strong low pressure system will move over the northwestern corner of the country on Tuesday. This system will usher moderate to heavy rain across the Pacific Northwest, while afternoon showers will spread across the upper Intermountain West and northern California. In addition, high elevation snow showers will occur over the Cascades and the northern Rockies. The Southwest and the Great Basin will continue to experience warm, dry conditions due to a ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific. Temperatures are forecast to range between the 80s and 90s across the southern California and Arizona deserts.

Meanwhile, a separate system will trek northeastward over the upper Midwest, the Great Lakes and southeast Ontario. This system will bring rainy weather to the upper Midwest and the upper Mississippi Valley. Thunderstorms will form over the Great Lakes. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will extend southwestward over the upper Midwest, the middle Mississippi Valley and the southern Plains. As this cold front interacts with a southerly flow from the Gulf of Mexico, a line of showers and thunderstorms will develop over the central Gulf Coast, the Mississippi Valley, the Tennessee Valley, the Ohio Valley and portions of the Northeast. Warm, pleasant weather will remain in place over the East Coast on Tuesday, as temperatures are forecast to range between the 70s and 80s.
