Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday,October 23,2014

A cold front will continue to move across the Northwest on Thursday, while a low pressure system will affect the Northeast.

A cold frontal boundary will extend from northwest California to northwest Montana on Thursday. This system will influence an onshore flow from the Pacific, which will aid in producing widespread rain and thunderstorms across Washington, Oregon, northern California, northwest Nevada, Idaho and western Montana. The heaviest rain will focus over the Pacific Northwest, while high elevation snow showers will be possible across the Cascades and the northern Rockies. A high pressure system over the Four Corners will keep conditions mostly clear across the southern Great Basin, the Desert Southwest and the southern Rockies.

Meanwhile, a cold front will weaken over the central portion of the country. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will fire up over the central Plains, the middle and upper Mississippi Valley and the upper Midwest. Just to the east, a strong low pressure system will impact the northeastern corner of the country. Heavy rain can be expected across the northern Mid-Atlantic and New England. Prolonged heavy rain will bring a threat of flash flooding to Maine.

To the south, rain and thunderstorms associated with Tropical Depression Nine will affect the southern tip of Florida, as well as the Florida Keys.
