A strong low pressure system will continue to trek eastward over the Intermountain West on Sunday. This system will usher rain across parts of the Pacific Northwest, the Great Basin and the Rockies. A mixture of rain and snow will be possible over the high elevations of the northern Sierra Nevada, as well as the northern and central Rockies. Additionally, showers and thunderstorms will affect the Desert Southwest, focusing over Arizona and New Mexico. A ridge of high pressure will build over the eastern Pacific, keeping conditions mostly dry over the West Coast.
