A strong low pressure system will move across the West Coast on Wednesday, while a separate low pressure system will shift over the Mid-Atlantic.
A large area of low pressure will continue to move across the West Coast on Wednesday. This system will bring heavy rain, gusty winds and strong waves to the Pacific Northwest. Prolonged heavy rain could lead to flash flooding over portions of northern California and southwest Oregon. Rainy weather will reach as far south as the San Francisco Bay Area. High pressure will continue to build over the Intermountain West, keeping conditions mostly clear over the central and northern Rockies, the Great Basin and the Desert Southwest.
Meanwhile, a weaker area of low pressure will drift northeastward over the northern Plains. This system will interact with subtropical moisture to initiate scattered showers and thunderstorms over the southern Rockies, the southern Plains, the central Plains and the upper Mississippi Valley.
Additionally, a low pressure system will deepen as it moves north northeastward over the Eastern Seaboard. This system will focus over the Mid-Atlantic on Wednesday, although showers and thunderstorms will be possible as far south as the eastern Gulf Coast, and as far north as the northern Mid-Atlantic. Conditions will stay dry across New England, the Ohio Valley and the Tennessee Valley.
