In the wake of the midweek clouds and spotty rain, sunshine in store for the Boston area this weekend into Monday.
High pressure extending from Maine to northeastern Texas will build eastward. Along with the fair weather system will come building warmth.
Highs near 80 F are in the offing for Saturday and Sunday with abundant sunshine.
The weather should be perfect for MLB in the region from Washington, D.C., to Philadelphia and Boston for the last regular season games of the season. It will feel like summertime during the afternoon games, including at Fenway Park.
The weather will be dandy for checking out the foliage in northern upstate New York and northern New England, where leaves are nearing peak, but behind for the the average date of peak color.
The only potential problem for long-distance travelers will be patchy dense fog during the early morning hours. Most of the fog will tend to form along the river valleys, well north and west of Interstate 95.
