Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday,September 27,2014
A low pressure system will affect the western third of the country on Saturday, while conditions are expected to clear up across the East Coast.
A strong low pressure system will move east southeastward over the Southwest on Saturday. As this system interacts with an abundance of moisture over the region, strong to severe thunderstorms will develop over portions of the Desert Southwest and the Great Basin. Severe thunderstorms will be possible across western and central Arizona, as well as southwest Utah. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail and dangerous straight line winds. Heavy rain associated with these thunderstorms will bring a chance of flash flooding to Arizona, southwest Utah, southern Nevada and southeast California. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will also be possible across the Rockies and the northern high Plains. High pressure over the eastern Pacific will keep the majority of the West Coast mostly clear of precipitation.
Meanwhile, an onshore flow from the Gulf of Mexico will continue to fuel thunderstorms over the western Gulf Coast and the southern Plains. Scattered thunderstorms will also be possible across parts of the central and eastern Gulf Coast. To the north, high pressure will build over the Great Lakes. Conditions will stay mostly clear across the Mid-Atlantic and New England, as temperatures are forecast to range between the 70s and 80s on Saturday.
