In the wake of the midweek rain, sunshine is in store for the Washington, D.C., area this weekend into Monday.
High pressure extending from Maine to northeastern Texas will build eastward. Along with the fair weather system will come building warmth.
Highs in the lower 80s are in the offing for Saturday and Sunday with abundant sunshine.
The weather will be perfect for MLB this weekend at Nationals Park.
The weather will be dandy for checking out the foliage in northern upstate New York and northern New England, where leaves are nearing peak, but behind for the the average date of peak color.
The only potential problem for long-distance travelers will be patchy dense fog during the early morning hours. Most of the fog will tend to form along the river valleys, well north and west of Interstate 95.
