Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday,July 1,2014

A cold frontal boundary will extend from the southern Plains to the central Great Lakes on Tuesday, while an area of low pressure will linger over the east coast of Florida.

A cold front is forecast to extend across the southern Plains, the middle Mississippi Valley, the Ohio Valley and the central Great Lakes on Tuesday. As this frontal boundary collides with a warm, humid air mass, strong to severe thunderstorms will develop across a handful of states. Severe thunderstorms will be possible over northern Arkansas, southeast Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, southern Illinois, southern Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York. These thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, dangerous straight line winds and isolated tornadoes. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will also move across the southern Plains, the upper Mississippi Valley, the Mid-Atlantic and New England.

Meanwhile, a low pressure system will linger over the east coast of Florida. This system will have a high, 80% chance to develop into a tropical cyclone as it drifts southwestward over the western Atlantic. Florida and parts of the Southeast will experience rain and thunderstorms associated with this area of low pressure. Gusty winds will also accompany this system.

Out west, a low pressure system will shift across the Great Basin and the Four Corners. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible across the Sierra Nevadas, the Great Basin and the Four Corners, especially during the afternoon. The remainder of the West Coast will stay clear of wet weather due to a ridge of high pressure over the eastern Pacific.
