DC to Turn Colder, Possibly Snowy This Week

Colder air is headed back to Washington, D.C., this week, along with the possibility of snow.
The 60-degree warmth will end with this weekend. Waves of arctic air and the polar vortex sinking southward will then make for a colder end to February.
The first blast of cold air will come on Monday after a band of wet snow, which will start as rain, moves through Sunday night.
The city's far northern and western suburbs is where the snow has the greatest opportunity to leave a fresh coating to an inch, mainly on non-paved surfaces.

After the snow ends and temperatures fall, residents and motorists in the northern suburbs should watch for wet and slushy areas to turn icy around daybreak Monday.
Temperatures later Monday will be held to the lower 40s, which is nearly 20 degrees below Sunday's mild high.

Brisk winds will create even colder AccuWeather.com RealFeel® temperatures.
Tuesday and Wednesday, temperatures will then struggle or fail to reach the 40-degree mark. A high close to 50 F is more common in Philadelphia this time of year.
After a rain or snow shower occurs on Tuesday, some snow may follow for Wednesday morning. One scenario for the snow would be for it to leave a coating to a couple inches. The other scenario is for steadier snow to develop and cause more disruptions to travel and daily routines.
