After a day of dry weather Thursday, a return to wet weather across the state will be marked by a series of storm systems crashing onshore.
Rain will begin across the San Francisco and Monterey Bay region Thursday evening, and then continue on and off through Friday and the weekend.
When all is said and done, rainfall totals from San Francisco north to Eureka will average a good 1-3 inches. Heavier bands of rain across the region could even bring wind gusts over 30 mph.
These weather conditions will likely have significant impacts on air travel, namely in the form of airport delays.
If you will be flying in or out of San Francisco, be sure to check back with AccuWeather.com often for the latest on this stormy weather.
Heavy mountain snow is likely across the Sierra Nevada. The snow will fall mainly above pass level through Sunday. However, as colder air filters in Sunday night, travel on I-80 through the passes could become dangerous as roads become snow-packed.
Cities such as Redding, Sacramento, Santa Rosa and Fresno will not escape the impacts of the stormy pattern either, as waves of rain will cause plenty of travel troubles.
As always, a good way to stay ahead of the weather is with AccuWeather.com. Be sure to keep checking back for the latest on this storm, and for all the rest of your weather needs.
