Relief from the brutal heat wave arrived in northwestern India, including in New Delhi, on Tuesday and Wednesday as thunderstorms and rain rolled across the region.
High temperatures ranged from 32-34 C (90-94 F) across the capital on Wednesday, following a stretch of nine straight days with the temperature reaching at least 38 C (100 F).
A high temperature near 33 C (91-92 F) is more common in early April.
This more seasonable air will hold across northwestern India through the weekend. Overnight temperatures will be much more comfortable throughout northwestern India with conditions falling to 16-18 C (61-65 F) in the capital.

2017 Asia spring forecast: Building heat in India
The relief from recent heat will fade early next week as winds shift, pulling heat from southern and central India back into the northwest.
The heat will begin to build on Monday with the most intense conditions expected from Wednesday through Friday.
Temperatures will soar past 38 C (100 F) each day, and overnight lows will again hover between 21 and 24 C (70 and 75 F) in New Delhi.
Despite the recent heat, many locations Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh will record their highest temperatures of the year thus far during the upcoming wave.
Temperatures will peak between 43 and 46 C (110 and 115 F) on the hottest days in many locations. This dangerous heat will threaten the National Capital Region.
Additional rounds of dangerous heat will impact India into June before monsoon rains spread from southeast to northeast across the country.
Anyone who must spend time outdoors amid the current and future heat waves is encouraged to drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks and wear light-colored clothing. Strenuous activities should also be avoided during the hottest times of the day.
