England will bask in summerlike warmth this Sunday, but the same is not likely to happen throughout the United Kingdom over Easter weekend.
Conditions will be prime for barbecues, beer gardens and other outdoor activities.
An advancing cold front and scattered showers will trim the mild air out of the northern U.K. for Palm Sunday, while temperatures rise further in the south.
In areas from York and Leeds to London, Oxford and Swindon, temperatures will reach or exceed 20 C (68 F), nearly 10 degrees Celsius (18 degrees Fahrenheit) above average.

Sunshine will make sun cream and/or hats a necessity for anyone enjoying the warmth outdoors across southeastern England. Though later in the day, the cloud will begin to increase as a cold front moves south across Britain.
Cloudy spells are expected on Palm Sunday in Wales and northern and western England. A cold front will bring showery spells across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The warmth in England and Wales will not last beyond the weekend as the front will press through by Monday, bringing temperatures closer to normal.
Another significant warm spell is not expected to unfold next week or during Easter weekend.
“Easter weekend will not be nearly as warm as Sunday across the U.K.,” AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Jason Nicholls said.
“The best chance for cool and unsettled weather across Europe on Easter Sunday will be over Scandinavia, Germany and Poland,” Nicholls said.
If the depression delivering this unsettled weather tracks farther west than latest indications, the U.K. may face more rain, wind and likely disruptions to Easter egg hunts and other festivities.
