At least two people were killed in Louisiana after a possible tornado touched down Sunday. The suspected twister is part of a round of dangerous severe thunderstorms expected to impact the South.
A potent jet stream disturbance will sweep through the South into Monday while intercepting moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, resulting in the formation of widespread severe storms, according to weather.com meteorologist Chris Dolce. Those storms could be accompanied by tornadoes, damaging straight-line winds and large hail.
The deaths occurred when a mobile home on Zin Zin Road in Breaux Bridge was flipped over and significantly damaged, according to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office. The victims were identified as Francine Gotch and her 3-year-old daughter, Neville Alexander, who were inside at the time of the storm around 9:30 a.m.

Eyewitnesses at the scene told KFLY.com that there were other injuries due to the storm.
In Texas, a state trooper reported seeing a tornado touch down Sunday morning near Center Point, the Associated Press reports. There were no reports of major or structural damage.
Sunday the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued a rare "high risk" in their updated thunderstorm outlook for east Texas and northern Louisiana, according to a previous report. This is reserved for situations in which "high confidence exists in widespread coverage of severe weather with embedded instances of extreme severe."
