Weather Underground Forecast for Saturday,October 1,2016

A low pressure system will continue to impact the East Coast on Saturday, while a Pacific disturbance affects the Northwest.

A slow moving low pressure system will drift northeastward across the lower Great Lakes and the Ohio Valley. This system will usher rain and embedded thunderstorms across portions of the upper Mississippi Valley, the Midwest and the Northeast. Flash flooding will be a concern for southeast Massachusetts and southeast Rhode Island. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will extend south southwestward from the northern Mid-Atlantic to the Florida Peninsula. As this frontal boundary lifts northeastward, it will produce rain and thunderstorms over a large part of the Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast. Prolonged heavy rain will bring threats of flash flooding to southeast New Jersey, eastern Delaware, eastern Maryland and northeast North Carolina.

Meanwhile, a slow moving frontal system will push eastward across the Intermountain West. This frontal boundary will collide with a relatively warm air mass, which will lead to showers and isolated thunderstorms in the central and northern Rockies, as well as the high Plains. High elevation snow will be possible along favorable mountain slopes. Additionally, a Pacific low pressure system will produce rainy weather in parts of Washington, Oregon and northern California. Snow showers will also develop in the higher elevations of the Cascades.
