Orlene became a hurricane in the eastern Pacific Ocean on Monday morning after rapidly intensifying. The hurricane poses no threat to land for the foreseeable future.

- Hurricane Orlene was located around 600 miles west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California, as of early Tuesday as a Category 2 hurricane.
- This system is no threat to any land areas.
- Orlene rapidly intensified in the 24 hours ending Monday morning at 2:00 a.m. PDT. Wind speeds increased from 40 mph (35 knots) to 80 mph (70 knots) during that time. Rapid intensification is when maximum sustained winds increase by at least 30 knots (about 35 mph) in 24 hours or less.
