A low pressure system will move slowly across the Plains on Tuesday, while a Pacific system approaches California.
A slow moving low pressure system will drift eastward over the northern Plains. This system will usher a mixture of rain and snow across the central Rockies, the northern Rockies and the northern high Plains. It will also bring moderate showers to the northern Plains and the upper Mississippi Valley. A cold frontal boundary associated with this system will extend southward. This system will generate rain and thunderstorms across the central Plains,the southern Plains, the middle Mississippi Valley and the lower Mississippi Valley. Prolonged heavy rain could lead to flash flooding in eastern Texas, Louisiana, eastern Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri and extreme western Illinois.
Meanwhile, an area of low pressure will streak southeastward across New England. This system bring a mixture of rain and snow to New England. A shot of cool air will also spread across New England and the northern Mid-Atlantic.
Out west, a Pacific system will approach the coast of northern California. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will develop throughout the afternoon and evening from northern California to southwest Washington. High pressure will bring warm and dry weather to the Desert Southwest on Tuesday.
